Technical Notes for the World Wide Web

Websites Are Not Magic: You need these things:

  • Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML and its successor, XHTML)
  • This code establishes the ‘semantic’ structure of the site, as seen by browsers and search engines.
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for layout structure and typographic styling.
  • Javascript, to implement functions such as video and audio
  • Flash, for site-wide content and structure or for audio and video items within a traditional HTML structure.

Added value in all my web projects:

  • Metadata for search engines
  • Fast page loading with optimised images and code
  • Statistical tracking via Google Analytics.

My fees are determined by the scope of work and your budget. It is important that your investment is proportional to your resources and to the benefits that you will derive from your design project.

Remember, keeping your site up-to-date is as important as building it !
